For the Chronically Mentally Ill, A Good Home Can Be Hard To Find. |

A Residential Care Facility, or RCF, is one step below nursing home care. This is the type of facility for which most of the chronically mentally ill will qualify. It is not paid for by Medicaid but many county mental health agencies and mental health board's have contracted to subsidize the cost of care for their patients in such facilities. Buckeye Family has, over the years, contracted with mental health boards and agencies in 55 Ohio counties. Such facilities are not locked but are usually staffed 24 hours per day. They provide indispensable care for the chronically mentally ill. They provide room and board, usually a healthy therapeutic milieu, and assistance with medications and appointments with medical and mental health professionals. |
